UPDATE March 24, 2020: His Grace Bishop Paul has issued a directive suspending all public services throughout the Diocese of the Midwest. Please read the full letter from His Grace.
Fr. Joshua will continue to pray in the church since that does not require him to travel anywhere, and he will periodically post chanted hymns and other content (reflections, homilies, etc.) on the newly created St. Nicholas YouTube channel.
Please see the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Resource Page provided by the Diocese of the Midwest for additional resources to aid our prayer at home.
Saint Nicholas of Myra Orthodox Christian Church, formed in 2002, is a mission parish of the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of the Midwest. We hold services in a small white house that was donated to the parish in 2013 and which we remodeled for liturgical use during the summer of 2014. We are now raising funds to build a permanent Orthodox temple.
We work to provide a daily presence of prayer and Orthodox teaching in the heart of Lawrence. We have a weekly study group, active catechumenate, and sponsor the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) at the University of Kansas. Our OCF is a vibrant group of undergraduate and graduate students. Over the years we have had students from all over the country and from abroad. We meet regularly while university is in session for meals and discussion.
