UPDATE July 30, 2020: We will be celebrating the liturgy outside on Sundays at 8:30am. All are welcome. As we will be outside, masks are not required, but you may certainly wear one if you prefer, and we will still observe the recommended 6 feet of distance between households. Fr. Joshua will wear a mask during the administration of the Eucharist.
Saint Nicholas of Myra Orthodox Christian Church, formed in 2002, is a mission parish of the Orthodox Church in America’s Diocese of the Midwest. We hold services in a small white house that was donated to the parish in 2013 and which we remodeled for liturgical use during the summer of 2014. We are now raising funds to build a permanent Orthodox temple.
We work to provide a daily presence of prayer and Orthodox teaching in the heart of Lawrence. We have a weekly study group, active catechumenate, and sponsor the Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) at the University of Kansas. Our OCF is a vibrant group of undergraduate and graduate students. Over the years we have had students from all over the country and from abroad. We meet regularly while university is in session for meals and discussion.
